DVD Players For Sale

There are regiion free DVD players for sale on the web now but people still buy DVD players from stores that are region restricted? Do people simply don’t care?

The generalizations made in the question imply that this is only talking about US consumers, so this answer is from that perspective.
The vast majority of DVDs come out for region 1 well before the other regions. In the US, media outlets only rent/sell region 1 DVDs. Most people don’t care to watch movies exclusive to other regions, which are mostly if not all foreign (I’ve never heard of an American made film released in another region that wasn’t already available in region 1.) Non region 1 movies are usually more expensive to acquire due to the need for international shipping.
In the end, the more expensive region free DVD players available online offer no real benefit to the majority of American consumers.
